We believe that human Rights begin from child rights. We further believe that children are the citizen and they have the right to life and dignity. But in India children are worst vulnerable and their childhood under threats.
We basically work with the broader framework of Indian Constitution and various national and international instruments of human rights. The rights of children are protected by the fundamental rights and freedoms and also have been covered under the Directive Principles of State Policy. Important among there are Art.24 (Right against exploitation) provides that no child below the age of 14 years shall be employed to work in any factory or mine or engaged in any hazardous employment; Article.39 (f) states that the State shall, in particular, direct its policies towards securing that children are given opportunities and facilities to develop in a healthy manner and in conditions of freedom and dignity and that childhood and youth are protected against exploitation and against moral and material abandonment. According to Article.45 the State must endeavor to provide, within the period of 10 years from the commencement of the constitution, free and compulsory education for all the children until they complete the age of 14 years.
All this commitment yet to fulfill and children are still deprived of their v\basic rights. Youth service center came forward to take the side of children in their rights movement.
